Breakfront climbs wall to create more space.(House-Home)

A dining room without storage is like a kitchen without cabinets.

"Our dining room is the size of a large Twister game board," Wendy Gibson says of her downtown Albany townhouse. "All I can fit in there is the dining room table and eight chairs."

Gibson needed storage for china and crystal, and space to display serving pieces.

The 9-by-14-foot room was used as a den/home office by the former owner and featured a set of bookcases flush to the rear wall.

Custom furniture maker John McCarthy of Altamont was called in to design a breakfront that hopefully would provide the desired storage. …
